FCWE announces the 2012 Concerto Competition for High School Musicians

Welcome!

Welcome to the online home of the First Coast Wind Ensemble. The membership of the ensemble is composed of musicians from Jacksonville and the First Coast area, ranging in background from professional musicians and educators to business professionals and college students. The ensemble membership represents a cross-section of the Jacksonville population, brought together for the common purpose of creating professional quality music through the medium of the American community band tradition.

The First Coast Wind Ensemble has been in existence since 1990 and we are celebrating our 22nd season in 2011-2012.  We have a full concert schedule including our first performance at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Performing Arts in Orange Park.  Check out the Concert Schedule link to find out where we are playing this season.  As always, all of our concerts are FREE and open to the public.

The ensemble has premiered several pieces for wind ensemble over the last few years and performed at the 1995 National Convention of the Association of Concert Bands and the 1998 Southern Convention of the College Band Directors National Association. We were particularly honored to perform under the baton of David Holsinger this past season. Dr. Holsinger praised both the band and Mr. Clifton by saying, “marvelous musicians under marvelous leadership!”  The FCWE continues to perform the newest literature for wind ensemble, while maintaining a link to the classics that have sustained wind ensembles and concert bands throughout their history.

We hope you will attend all of our performances this concert season. Our benefactors, patrons, and loyal listeners make all of this happen.  Without your support we could not provide great music in great venues for no charge. This season, we challenge you to attend all of our concerts and bring two or three friends and neighbors with you!
